The Attorney Client Relationship

While many professions have clients, the nature of the relationship between lawyers and their clients is a unique one. In my area of practice, I serve people who are often dealing with some of the most stressful events in their lives and, consequently, are in great emotional turmoil when we speak. Navigating a serious workplace injury is a life-changing event and the attorney you choose should have the skills to help you navigate this time in a competent and compassionate manner. While a doctor may have their patient for decades, having regular checkups and treating any illnesses that arise, you generally do not have such a comfortable relationship with a lawyer, who is only needed rarely (for most people). Confiding in a doctor you’ve known for years about personal medical issues is comparatively easier than sharing intimate details about your life and employment history with someone you’ve just met. Despite the discomfort, it is important to remain truthful and transparent when discussing your case with your attorney as our ability to help you depends largely on the information you provide. Many overseas contractors are stoic people who are reluctant to disclose how badly they are feeling or will seek to minimize their injuries. I became a lawyer to assist people just like you and I want you to get all the benefits you deserve. I have also served on overseas military bases (as a Marine) and I have seen many friends and co-workers who denied their pain and suffering for far too long. At Gernand Law, our goal is to succeed in reaching the best possible outcome for your case and we need your collaboration throughout the process to achieve that. I would be very pleased to speak to you about your potential claim and can be reached directly at info@gernandlaw.com or 281-786-6235.
